ASME / ASTM
Types marked custom are made to your drawing — dimensions are standard, weight is spec dependent.

Used for the total and gross shipping weight.

Released against your drawing

ASME B16.47 Series A covers NPS 26 – 60. Bolting and outside-diameter data for these large diameters is issued with the project specification rather than from a public table, so we quote it against your line list and return a certified drawing.

Weight is project spec dependent

The bolting pattern and outside diameter above are the standard values for this size and class. The weight of this type depends on the hub length, facing and your pipe schedule, so it is confirmed against the approved drawing.

How these numbers are derived

Dimensions. Outside diameter, minimum thickness, bolt circle diameter, bolt-hole count and bolt diameter are the published ASME B16.5 values, stored in inches exactly as the standard states them and converted at 1 in = 25.4 mm. Bores follow ASME B36.10 Schedule 40 / STD inside diameter.

Bolting. Stud length is sized to pass through two flanges of this class and engage both nuts: 2T + 2.5d + 6 mm, rounded up to the nearest 5 mm. Wrench size is the standard hex across-flats, 1.5 × stud diameter. Recommended stud and nut grades follow the material group.

Weights. Modelled as a solid of revolution — the raised-face disc plus the hub — at 7,850 kg/m³ for carbon steel, multiplied by the material density factor (stainless and duplex follow the family densities published on our material pages). Blind and spectacle types are computed as a solid disc at the thicker blind-flange section. Gross shipping weight adds 12% for export packing (crate, VCI wrapping and pallet).

Please verify before manufacture. These figures are reference values for budgeting, freight planning and enquiry sizing. For purchase, fabrication or third-party inspection, work from the current ASME B16.5 / B16.47 tables, the approved drawing and the EN 10204 Type 3.1 mill certificate. Tell us if a value looks wrong and we will correct it — the data sits in one block in api/lib/flange-data.php on our server, and the server recomputes every PDF it sends.
