A335 P1 / A182 F1
UNS K11522
½Mo carbon-molybdenum grade — the entry chrome-moly for moderate elevated-temperature steam and process piping where plain carbon steel runs out of creep strength.
Chromium-molybdenum and low-alloy steels for elevated-temperature pressure service, hard-wearing components and high-strength engineering parts.
Alloy steel adds chromium, molybdenum, nickel and vanadium to carbon steel to raise creep strength at temperature, hardenability and toughness. The chromium-molybdenum ("chrome-moly") family — P1, P11, P12, P22, P5, P9, P91 and P92 — is the backbone of power-plant, refinery and boiler service, where it resists hydrogen attack and holds strength at temperatures carbon steel cannot.
The low-alloy AISI/SAE grades — 4130, 4140, 4340 and their EN equivalents — are through-hardening steels for shafts, gears, high-strength fasteners and machinery parts. ACERO ALLOYS supplies alloy steel pipes, fittings, flanges, plates, bars and fasteners to ASTM/ASME specifications with mill test certification.
The grades below are the ones most often asked for. Each grade stays on this page — the material-first way to browse.

Alloy steel is supplied against ASTM/ASME or EN specifications with EN 10204 Type 3.1 certification, heat-number traceability and, for chrome-moly grades, the applicable hardness and microstructure controls. NDE, impact testing and third-party inspection can be arranged with the enquiry.
The number series (P5, P9, P11, P22, P91) reflects the chromium-molybdenum balance: higher numbers generally mean higher alloy content and higher allowable service temperature — P11 (1¼Cr) to about 540 °C, P22 (2¼Cr) to about 600 °C and P91 (9Cr-VNb) to about 620 °C.
P91 is a modified 9Cr-1Mo steel with controlled vanadium and niobium. Its martensitic structure and fine precipitates give roughly double the creep strength of P22, allowing thinner walls in ultra-supercritical power-plant piping. It requires careful welding and heat treatment.
4340 adds about 1.65–2% nickel to the 4140-type Cr-Mo chemistry, giving deeper hardenability and higher toughness in thick sections. 4140 covers most general high-strength parts; 4340 is chosen for heavy-duty shafts and critical components.
ASTM A193 Gr. B7 studs with A194 Gr. 2H nuts are the standard pairing for F11/F22 flanges — the recommended combination is shown by our flange calculator.
Plate is normally supplied in the normalized-and-tempered or quenched-and-tempered condition required by the specification. Confirm the wall thickness, class and heat-treatment condition with the enquiry.
